I think you make some good points here, a cd increase is probably an easy fix, but a 100% increase is quite heavy-handed unless we have data to support it. I think the change would be fine, but I also think this game is too easy at this point in my skill growth, so I am probably in the minority in quite a few of my opinions for that reason.
