Ima? As it's started to get colder out i have started to notice a whine noise if it's below 50 degrees out. This only happens in the morning on a cold start and goes away within a couple of minutes at most. It's louder than the normal IMA noise and so I'm not sure if IMA can be louder as it gets colder or if it's cvt related.The noise is also a lot worse than the standard reverse whine, and its never made this noise until just recently. Posted September 13, 2018. At 65,000 miles, my 2013 Fusion Hybrid has a whining or wobbling sound from the CVT #CF-35 transmission. My mechanic thought first the noise came from the wheel bearings, but ruled that out, after he placed the car up on a rack, and listen for the loudest sound. It was loudest from the underside of the car's transmission.Clutch in while parked = No noise. Tap the clutch about 1/4 the way in while parked = noise goes away for a min when cold, then comes back. I did hear the whining noise slightly in 1st,2nd and a bit in 3rd gear while still not fully to temp. But 5 min into driving it seems to go away completely.

1) drop the pan, clean and replace the filter and magnet, trans parts. 2) refill the trans with the factory subaru fluid. 3) replace both front and rear diff fluids (use the factory subaru gear oil) I know servicing these types (pump in fluid, set fluid level at certain temps, etc..) of gearboxes is not a fun task.
