Dodge ram clicking noise front end.

I have just over 117k miles, and getting a clicking noise from the front end. I have talked with some friends, and they are saying CV joints. Would like to confirm.So I have two sounds coming from the front of my 2007 Dodge Ram 4x4. One is front when I go over a bump like the shocks are making the noise. I have moog upper control arms with grease fitting so I will try putting grease in it. Also coming from my left front wheel is a constant sound. You have regular u-joints on the knuckles. It might have gotten dry or somehow has play in the u-joint. It shows up as slop or clicking. clarence40. 6 posts · Joined 2004. #9 · May 10, 2006. For me the popping noise was caused by a bad upper control arm bushing on the drivers side. The bushing on the rear of the control arm had worn to the point that when the control arm shifted forward, there would be metal to metal contact.

A tie rod or a bad ball joint can do it. Sometimes, the sockets dry out and rust up and that can cause a creaking. Shoot some grease into either the ball joint or the tie rod and go for a ride to work the grease into the socket.
