Obviously an increase in hp decreases longevity, lve built several pullers and runners, these engines will hold together pretty well if you dont run too high an rpm, maybe 200 rpm above stock. Posted April 28, 2022. IH didn't change the total 25 degree advance on a 400 gas when fire craters were installed. Other models like M and SM fire crater kits used 22 degrees total advance. IH preferred the total advance be set at full RPM and idle advance fall wherever unless the distributor was warn.

M-MTA have a line that runs over to the stock air cleaner that hooks up in the back of the head. 400-450, vents thru the valve cover. so get a 400-450 valve cover, or add it to a M valve cover. not an oil line.

Cleaning up the head for the 450 notice a small crack coming off the oval water jacket between 3 and 4. The coolant was coming down cylinder three. There is actually a similar one between 1 and 2 but smaller. I took a couple of pictures, not sure how great they will be.
