I do not interpret these results as 3N38 being the top powder for 9 major, but as the top powder for open. As great a powder as 3N38 is for 38 super/SC, it is a pain to load and make reasonable PF in 9. I'm sure a big part of that 31% using 3N38 (and 3N37 for that matter) were by the 45% 38S/SC shooters. Used a bunch years ago not so much any more just too dirty for my taste. I have loaded pretty near every powder for 9MM and most are good to great. IMO Vit 3N37 is the best and cleanest for 115/124 9MM followed by Vit N350 and CFE pistol. Gives some of the highest velocities with less pressure/recoil.
Alliant Blue Dot. One of the slowest burning powders that can be used in 9 MM. Produces very high velocities for standard pressure loads. new Xtreme Brass with ~12.72 Capacity. I'm new to reloading and am looking for advice on how to select a powder. I'm loading 9mm 115gr LRN using Hodgdon Titegroup. According to their loading data (Cartridge Loads - Hodgdon Reloading Data Center - data.hodgdon.com), the load should range from 3.9 to 4.3 grs; I'm using the bottom of that range (3.9) figuring it was the safest place to start.
