Farmall m electronic ignition.
Member. Hey guys! So the 656 I'm working on has been converted to electronic ignition (pertronix ignitor). This was done shortly after the owner noticed it was running poorly and lacking power. Now I have found some mechanical issues, but had a few electrical questions as well. First, coil says external resistor required, but I don't see one.

I have a 12v 1953 SC that I'm installing a Precision Electronics ignition in but can't get spark. The instructions are a little sketchy and I've wired it accordingly.

Petronix and others don't like more than 5 amperes flowing when they switch off. Figure your voltage at 14.5 because your charging circuit will be active when you're running.

Pull coil wire out of cap and hold it 1/4 inch from good clean metal and rotate dist advance direction (opposite way rotor turns) until you get a spark. If you take the plate off the magneto to get to the points, you could also check the rotor gear timing, and be sure the marks are aligned right. You have to remove the little cover with the 2 screws to get to it.
