Jun 24, 2022. #1. I recently purchased a Yamaha G1 with the original square top solenoids. The reverse solenoid is bad, it would drive in forward. I bought the white Rodgers solenoids and now have nothing. I have followed all the retro fit diagrams I could find and have nothing. Any ideas.
Check for continuity between the two high side terminals on the solenoid using a multimeter. Before using the multimeter, make sure that you know the operating resistance range of the solenoid. Set the multimeter reading to ohms and place a lead on each of the two terminals.You must first disconnect the cables connecting the solenoid at the larger posts. Secure the cables so that they don't touch anything nearby. Set the DVM to the Ohms mode. You must see a zero reading on the meter when the probes touch the terminals on the solenoid. Now turn the cart's ignition switch toON.Turn the key off and put the cart in neutral position and place a probe on each large terminal - you should get no reading from your voltmeter. Turn the cart on, now, and put the cart in forward. Step on the accelerator and measure the ohms - you should get at least 0-0.04 ohms.
