When you enter Trial of the Sword, all 51 rooms + the room with the Master Sword exist on one gigantic map. These rooms are separated into a grid and put in rows based on their attributes. The only thing that changes is that the Master Sword room is different depending on which option you choose (beginning, middle, or final). It doesn't "break", but rather needs a recharge. You can make it indestructible if you just head back to the forest, and start up the Trial of the Sword again. It wouldn't even let me start the final trials while it was recharging. I'm not sure why, when I can't even use the sword in the trials to begin with.
