Especially when you have to pay an initiation fee. Which is completely fair! But be aware there are many honor societies especially in college that are prestigious and still require a fee..Right-- no one here said either the national society of collegiate scholars or the National society of HS scholars were "scams". I'll say it - NSCS and NSHSS are scams. The primary purpose of these organizations is to line the pockets of those who created/work for them, and they do this by taking advantage of the naivete of young students.
