Raising your Clan Tier is a simple but very long process. It requires Renown, which you receive when you complete battles. As some perspective, to reach Clan Tier 4, you require 900 Renown. A battle against a group of 30 Looters provides around 1 Renown. It’s a very long process.

And if you join a kingdom other than creating your own every fief you own stays as yours but if you leave the kingdom the fief stays in the kingdom. As far as i know you have yo manually assign a member to party leader after they are captured then freed. You only have the option to join as a vassal if you own land already. Merc is not possible.
