Best weapon in nioh 2.
I think Spear I think is just a consistently really good weapon. Low stance has great mobility and flying monkey jump attack actually does solid damage and can really cause problems for human enemies. Mid stance had great pokes that only get better with the increased thrust range. High stance is the least good, but has nice vertical attacks.

I consider katana and spear among the harder weapons to play. Well, spear's mid strong attack can carry you very far but like the katana, it can get rather technical. So 2 schools of though: Pick Katana + spear, suffer now and master the game. Once you get used to the superior mobility of katana and spear low stance, it can be very addicting.
So you might have kusarigama for quick, destructive attacks against yokai or humans that don't block. Then you might have an axe, fist weapons, or tonfas or such if you wanted a weapon to break through blocking humans easier. The damage scaling tends to be on the smaller side on the first playthrough. It's there, but still on the smaller side.

Definitely Tonfa. Shin Crusher on splitstaff is still excellent for ki damage. But maybe some are just bad early on and people avoid them.Use feral form burst counter to cancle feather animations so your not stuck in place during the whole animation. Use Burst counter if you depleted your ki and are winded for immediate recovery. Even with ninjutsu it's best to use a weapon most of the time just so you get the combat feel. I disagree - I think you should focus on how the stats benefit your character for the first playthrough (and maybe part of the second one) and focus on how they boost your weapon after that.
