Leaps and bounds better. The original has quirky characters and they just seem more real and act more like real people, although the bartender is a bit over-the-top. The remake is lifeless and just flat. It lacks any suspense, and the characters are exactly what one would expect in a bad horror remake. It just didn't work for me.
