It's a scam. If it costs money and advertises "prestige", then it's probably a scam/doesn't help with acceptance. It won't give you a scholarship just for joining, but they offer scholarship opportunities. In addition, they offer meet-ups across the country so you could connect with other NSHSS members.

They aren’t a scam per se, but it’s really not competitive as you just need a 1280 SAT to get it. at least they sent me a sticker in the mail :D.
