While cruising Facebook Marketplace I stumbled on a semi-local 1986 Toyota 4Runner that had already been swapped with a 1985 OM617. So after some minor research it appears the OM617 produces at least 40 more ft/lbs of torque and at least 30 more horse power than the Jeep 2.5l. It also produces this torque at a much lower rpm than the 2.5.
