I read a little about the Lectron Carbs. They're big in the DRZ400 community, about as well mentioned as the FCR39. The self adjusting feature relies on the airflow on the metering rod, similar to that of an airplane wing. The leading edge is rounded, the trailing edge is flat.Compared to the Lectron and the FCR the smart carb is similar price. I am not so much looking for huge performance gains by burning more gas. Smart carb is also for 4 strokes. I am thinking of just doing a JD Jet kit on the 36mm mikuni carb and seeing how it runs. The WR starts one push of the button no matter what temp, elevation, or if it’s been dropped, whereas I had a lot of carb trouble with my old DRZ in the 3 years I’ve owned it. Loved everything else about the bike though. So that brings me to Lectron with how they automatically adjust for all that with their metering rods.You can test the float needle valve with the carb off the bike and the bowl removed by lightly holding the rubber tipped needle valve in the seat to see if it seals. If it doesn't, figure out why. If it seals, I'd check and recheck your float height then. The float is letting too much fuel in before closing the valve.

You may also try CV carbs thats bigger than stock 36mm one on drz. Its realy choked down and can handle up to a 40mm CV carb no problem. CV carbs are realy fuel efficent and less sensitive to altitude and temp changes.

The prior 02-06 CRF450 carbs are 40mm. Being bigger it'll be less low end and more top end power. The carb also doesn't use the same accelerator pump spring as every other FCRMX carb on the planet.People use the Lectron carb which I think is like the same thing.
