It is well known and there are tons of posts on its accuracy. It reads full at 2.5 gallons and will accept 5 gallons. So from full to actual half full the gauge reads full. Once you hit half full actual then the gauge drops as it is used.

Resetting the DEF. So I have a 2012 Duramax. The DEF fluid got low. It read 200 miles remaining. So I put more DEF fluid in. It held 1.5 gallons. Which is not enough to fill the tank on that.
