I am casting my own 405g Boolit's, using a Lee 405 standard base mold! Using Wheel weights and dropping in water as soon as cast! Loading as poured and not sizing!Heck, I even looked in my Hodgdon manual and could find no loadings using H110 for the 45-70. The .454 Casull had a load of 28.5 gr of H110 for a 300 gr JFP bullet, but showing 44.2K of pressure. The .475 Linebaugh had a loading of 27.0 gr for a 385 gr cast LRNFP at 45.3K pressure. A 420 gr cast LRNFP had 25.0 gr with 36.7K pressure.Bradley C- Just for target shooting I have found that a .445 cal roundball with a .015 pre lubed patch sitting on top of 35gr of FFF powder works best up to 50-75 yards. Velocities and pressures are close to factory as is recoil - 40 grains of IMR3031 will kick a lot harder for little velocity gain. (If you open some brands of factory .45-70 they appear to be loaded with only 15-20 grains of flake or ball powder.

Cast boolits typically use faster powders than jacketed bullets do due to their greater ease in passage through the barrel. 4320 is a couple of steps faster than 4350. Powders burn best within their own particular pressure range. The 45-70 would not be able to achieve 4350's ideal pressure level with a cast boolit.
