Is the moonveil katana still good.

It's still a good katana but it's more worthwhile to upgrade something else if you don't have int, it scales best with int. I'd say if you're low on stones probably skip it for nowMoonveil is more agile, does a good chunk of damage with or without buffs. Compare to DMGS directly, the main difference is that AOW damage cannot be buffed by Godfrey Icon. Bottomline, DMGS for fights that would end fast (e.g getting all the charged attack in without break). Moonveil if the fight requires faster reaction.Strictly PvE (but applicable to PvP) and pre-patch, it was the weapon art. Deals massive (ultra greatsword level) damage but comes out much faster, was spammable, poise broke very easily, has poise itself. Pair it with the ring that heals HP and fp on critical hits, and you just spam weapon art on bosses, poise break, crit, repeat. It's busted, the damage it deals and how fast it is for only 20 FP, all other sorcery is downright useless not to mention slow. With moonveil even if you run out of FP you're still in the game because you can powerstance it with another katana that does bleed. Oh yeah, haven't mentioned bleed.

Moonveil has more range on it's specials compared to Uchigatana with it's standard Unsheath, but also costs more FP. Overall both weapons are great tbh. Despite all the hate that Moonveil gets, regular Uchigatana is basically on par with it. You need to have dedicated build for it to be good.

On an int>dex build, Moonveil is simply your best option. It provides the 1 thing sorceries are generally lacking, posture damage and strong normal attacks that cost no FP. SoNaF provides nothing better. It provides weaker normal attacks, less posture damage and a 2nd comet azur on top of the one you already have.Rivers of blood is definitely the more raw power of the two, but you could make a preference case for either. It's one of those weapons that's a noob trap, imo. People get stuck on using the ranged attack as a crutch, while the actual katana moveset is extremely versatile and is, in tandem with the ranged attack, the key to being really skilled with it. In other words, it's a low skill floor, high skill ceiling weapon.
