I just use regular automotive grease for that. For the auger gear case (I also have aluminum) it calls for Ariens L2 which has now been superseded by Ariens L3 synthetic severe-duty gear lube. The Ariens L3 gearbox lubricant is very thin and leaked from the gearbox impeller shaft seal on my 2015 Platinum. Ariens dealer replaced the seal under warranty and I changed all the seals again later after leaking. Drained the L3 and used Motorcraft Synthetic 75W-140 differential oil which is a little thicker.

Dealer replaced all 3 seals and used LR3 again. After another 2 years the impeller seal is leaking again.
