Ok I understand your concern. I have only disassembled it to replace parts. I have never had to clean the pinch sensor. Having to do that once a month would be a real hassle. Keep in mind that the company had said that certain litters don't play nice with the sensors and are more prone to causing corrosion.

My litter robot was out of warranty, but they sent me a free sensor replacement kit so I could replace it myself.
