Simply works. Tradovate is a great broker for heavily discounted futures trading. Their desktop platform is easy to use and simply works. Their mobile app on the other hand does need some work. Tradovate held my money for a week before they it was available to trade. Then there is the auto liquidator issue. Coincidentally the futures went against exactly to the point where the auto liquidator took my money and then reversed immediately. So I feel Tradovate is the best option for most people, although it may be worth opening a TradeStation futures account for the charting, if nothing else for backtesting. There used to be a $2K minimum balance for their TS Select Plan but as far as I can tell they removed the minimum balance.
The futures commissions on tda are nasty indeed. ~$5 per contract round trip. Terrible. But I like the interface and I think using ActiveTrader is easier and more intuitive than most other platforms I’ve tried. I’m currently trading MES on IB’s TWS platform and only paying about a buck per contract round trip.
For context, I was using the Tradovate web platform with Google Chrome on Windows. I'll update with my own review of my machine's security and whether or not they will refund. Update 8/28/2020 @ 1am. They got back to me a few hours ago, but I finally got the chance to update. Tradovate here, very good for order execution, but I don’t like their charts. And ffs I wish they’d make the cursor crosshairs disappear when the cursor leaves the chart.
