The Mark III Hunter with the 5.5 inch barrel is not a standard Ruger item I believe. It is a TALO distributor exclusive. I do not know exactly what means with respect to getting one. One of the LGS has had some TALO guns. They had a GP100 with a 5" barrel and it was a TALO item. There is no doubt the MK III Hunter with the 5.5" bbl would be nice.Once sighted in, the advantage of a red dot is a sight easier to place on the target. Most red dot sights use a CR2032 three volt battery with a variable brightness control. I have a red dot on my Mark III Hunter and iron sights on my 22/45. The red dot adds a bit of bulk to the pistol which precludes using a regular holster.IR Hunter™ Mark III. Weight is 38 oz compared to the 41 oz of the 6 7/8" Hunter. The shorter barrel does give it quite a different feel, despite the small difference in weight. I just assumed it was a 4 5/8" because Ruger does offer the MKIII Standard in a short barrel, too (4.75). Sorry about being a little sloppy on the exact length.

Well, you really don't need an excuse, the Mark IV is just that much easier to clean it's ridiculous. I hardly ever take out my Mark III Hunter anymore. I have 2 Mark IVs. One is a Volquartsen Mamba which is my favorite. The other is just a Mark IV 22/45 Lite with a C-More scope on top. I found the Lite in the safe. LOL.

None of it was cheap. Probably have $1000 to $1200 in the gun. But it does everything I need a pistol to do. Off a bag at 35 yds it'll put 10 shots you can cover with a nickel.
